Rick's diary:
The event began Wednesday with the official opening at the Surfcentrum Brouwersdam. From eight different countries enrolled 21 participants. After the flag parade we had a barbecue at Center Parcs Port Zélande. That was super nice....
Thursday we would sail the first race but there was not enough wind so we had a number of jumps on the waterjump and made a short tow-in session.
Friday morning at 10.00 am skippers meeting. In the afternoon the wind picked up and we had a single elimination. There was just enough wind for a few good moves to show and so I came in first place. That was a good start for the double that we could make it Saturday. In 25 knots we could show more and I have some good heats hazards. Eventually, I became the first in the double! I was very happy that I was so good.
The next day, Sunday, the wind was blowing all day and we had a single and a double danger. I was the second single and therefore had my first heat in the first double win to be everywhere! In this heat I had the wind against Rafael from Curacao. He sailed that day very well and I did not quite, but luckily I won! Then I had the final against Nick van Ingen. Because I won the first heat got Nick revenge because he had won Single. The first heat was really sick but the last I make a little less radical, and I lost. That was a pity! But eventually I became the first anywhere and I am very happy! Even very happy!
I am now allowed to call "World Champion under 20" years!
