After successful kick-off events at boot Düsseldorf and in Cape Town, the FPT is now presenting an ambitious calendar that has the scene buzzing with excitement. "This calendar marks our first steps into a new era of freestyle windsurfing," announces the FPT confidently. In addition to indoor, tow-in, foil and junior events, a cooperation with the PWA in the form of a 9-star cup from 10 to 13 December in Brazil (Jericoacoara) is also on the agenda this year. More information will follow in the coming weeks. Please note: Do not book your flights yet - the entire calendar is currently still subject to change.
The tour stops are classified in a star system from zero to ten and divided into three series. The Proving Ground Series comprises events with 0-5 stars and offers prize money of up to €5,000 and a maximum of 100 points for the overall ranking. In the Continental Series (6-8 stars), freestylers can earn up to 400 points and 20,000 euros in prize money. The top of the pyramid is the Championship Series with 9-10 stars, which offers up to 1,000 points and prize money of between 30,000 and 50,000 euros.
The Freestyle Pro Tour emphasises its claim to be the "Home of Freestyle Windsurfing" by awarding titles in four categories: Freestyle, Foilstyle, Tow-In and Youth. This broad line-up reflects the development of the sport and offers athletes various opportunities to specialise. With twelve events planned, the 2025 season promises a dense series of highlights that should excite freestyle fans and athletes alike.
It will also be exciting to see how the cooperation with the PWA develops. Is it heading in the direction of the new World Wave Tour, where IWT and PWA are cooperating all year round to organise the most comprehensive tour possible? The current developments on the professional side of the sport are very interesting. We are hoping for a good season with lots of exciting competitions!
Further information on the individual events can be found on the Website of the Freestyle Pro Tour.
