Finally, "SUPing" becomes a light, playful sport right from the start. The relaxed grin as you carry it one-handed across the beach is real for the first time - race SUPs in the 14-foot class weigh between around 12 and 17 kilos. And the fun really starts on the water.
Tried and tested: Lightweight racer for touring and racing still cuts through the water, the Fanatic shape can reach speeds during short sprints that are otherwise only possible in the 14-foot class. And the "cruising speed" is also impressive. The board is much more stable in the water than some of the longer competitors, and also more stable than the stable's own companion. The shape shows where the stock class is heading: the rocker line at the front is dead straight, with a strongly swept keel in the bow. The board only gets a clear rocker from the stance position backwards. This allows you to accelerate on flat water without much resistance, because the board hits the water with minimal resistance at the front without bending up, and the stern wave runs cleanly at the back without sucking. On top of that, the rocker in the tail should ensure proper wave surfing - which unfortunately we were unable to try out on the lake.
Conclusion: An absolutely race-ready board that accelerates superbly due to its low weight. Not suitable for children to play and have fun on due to its light, fragile construction.
