The new FreeWing Nitro wants to play in the league of the lightest wings. Find out here how this goal is to be achieved and who the wing is suitable for.

Manufacturers are currently engaged in a race to produce the lightest wing - and the FreeWing Nitro is unlikely to finish last. In the 5 square metre size, the wing is said to weigh just 2.15 kilos, putting it in the league of the lightest wings on the market. The featherweight is made possible by the use of a stiff and light material, brand-internal"Hookipa Ultra PE" which is said to be 25 per cent lighter than conventional Dacron material and is used in the Nitro model.

The FreeWing Nitro is available in two colours and four sizes

The diameter of the front tube on the Nitro model is comparatively thin, which saves weight and ideally ensures a high top speed due to the lower riding resistance. However, in order to achieve sufficient stiffness, the wing must be inflated with up to ten psi. According to the manufacturer, this should not have any disadvantages in terms of durability.

Overall, this model is designed to emphasise the aspects of lightness and handling, while the FreeWing Air V2 model places greater emphasis on freeride and all-round characteristics. The Nitro is therefore primarily aimed at experienced wing surfers who are looking for a lightweight wing for freestyle, manoeuvres and waves. The FreeWing Nitro will be available in a total of four sizes with 3/4/5 and 6sqm as well as two colour codes. The wing will also be available with and without a window.

Further information is also available HERE on the manufacturer's website. You will soon be able to read a test of this wing here on the website - A test sample has already been ordered.
