The first Girls on Tour camp of the year has ended successfully. The participants had wind every day - from light to strong. This variety allowed for different training sessions on the water. Beginners were able to complete their first jibes and wave rides, while advanced riders worked on body drags and jumps. The programme was aimed at different skill levels and offered everyone the opportunity to improve their skills. The season has thus got off to a successful start and will offer further opportunities for joint training on the water in the coming months.

Five camps planned until September

Six more events are on the programme over the next few months. Three of these will take place as Perform in the Waves Camps in Pozo Izquierdo/Gran Canaria - on 23 and 24 May, 15 June and 13 July. Pozo on Gran Canaria is one of the most challenging wave spots in Europe. A freestyle event will follow on 22 July in Sotavento on Fuerteventura. From 11 to 15 August there will be a wave camp in El Médano on Tenerife. The final event is an all-level windsurfing and fun activities weekend in Brouwersdam in the Netherlands on 19 and 20 September.

Concept combines training and community

Each event brings together women with the same passion for windsurfing. The camps offer the opportunity to improve skills, get to know new spots or enjoy a special experience together. The format is aimed at beginners and advanced surfers alike. The events in Pozo and El Médano are primarily aimed at experienced wave riders, while the freestyle event in Sotavento and the weekend in Brouwersdam cover a broader spectrum. The community concept takes centre stage and is intended to encourage women to push their limits together.

Deputy Editor in Chief surf

Stephan Gölnitz comes from Bochum and had Holland as his home windsurfing territory for many years before moving to Munich in 1996 for the job of test editor at surf magazine. The materials engineering graduate worked as a surf instructor on the Ijsselmeer during his studies and competed for several seasons for the Essen sailing team in the Surfbundesliga and the Funboard Cup. He completed a traineeship at surf-Magazin in the test department and since then has actively accompanied almost all tests on the boom and for more than 10 years also as a photographer. Stephan has covered many thousands of test kilometers, mainly on Lake Garda and in Langebaan, but also in Egypt and Tobago. He gets his hands on over 100 new sails and boards every year as his company car. Privately, he prefers to surf with a foil on Lake Walchensee or “unfortunately far too rarely” in the waves. SUP is Stephan's second passion, which he pursued for several years at numerous SUP races. Today, he prefers to paddle on river tours with family or friends - even for several days.
