​Is Warnemünde worth a visit when there’s a strong west-north-westerly wind? Absolutely – says local resident Sören Klement. And judging by these pictures, we’re happy to agree with him.

Warnemünde is one of the absolute favourite spots for the windsurfing scene in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The Baltic Sea is at its very best here, particularly when the wind is blowing from the west to the west-north-west, as the wind drives solid swells onto the shore. Local Sören Klement was there – both on the water and behind the camera:

The world had decided to be beautiful. Light like liquid gold, waves that took us seriously, and friends who laughed as if there were no tomorrow. Perhaps there isn’t one. It doesn’t matter. We were there, salty, tired, happy. That’s all life asks for, and it’s all I’ve ever wanted.

Manuel Vogel, born in 1981, lives in Kiel and learned to windsurf at the age of six at his father's surf school. In 1997, he completed his training as a windsurfing instructor and worked for over 15 years as a windsurfing instructor in various centers, at Kiel University sports and in the coaching team of the “Young Guns” freestyle camps. He has been part of the surf test team since 2003. After completing his teaching degree in 2013, he followed his heart and started as editor of surf magazine for the test and riding technique sections. Since 2021, he has also been active in wingfoiling - mainly at his home spots on the Baltic Sea or in the waves of Denmark.
