The bora attracts many water sports enthusiasts to Croatia every year. However, this storm in April was borderline, as our photo gallery shows.

When it is still cold in Central Europe, the promise of warm temperatures at Easter attracts many water sports enthusiasts to the Croatian Adriatic coast. Wind safety is also high at this time of year, as the bora regularly provides good ventilation along the coast. However, Croatia connoisseurs know that the bora can sometimes get really angry - as was the case at the beginning of April.

A state of emergency prevailed on Croatia's coast for several days - wind speeds of up to 192 kilometres per hour were measured at a measuring station on the island of Rab. But also on the island of Krk, which is popular with water sports enthusiasts the Bora was firing from all cylinders. Those who were able to cross the bridge over the Tihi Canal in time were lucky. Because when the storm hit, the access road was closed for several days. A temporary opening of the bridge was immediately cancelled after a horse and cart was knocked over by a gale-force gust and almost fell off the bridge - only the crash barrier prevented anything worse from happening.

Chris Sammer was on Krk with a group of water sports enthusiasts during the storm and reported on an absolutely exceptional day with the smallest sail or wing at the stop. They surfed in the Punat lagoon that day. You can get an impression of the conditions in the photo gallery at the beginning of the article.
