Austria: Achensee
Michael Roßmeier's insomnia is not caused by nightmares, but by the fantastically beautiful Achensee between Munich and Innsbruck when the Föhn wind blows from the south and thermal winds from the north. Wedged into the mountain colossi of the Tyrolean Alps, the lake with its gigantic mountain panorama and turquoise water is without doubt an extravagant windsurfing spot.

Hi Michl, the trade wind has prevailed!" After a sailing lesson and various board consultations with Ernst at the Tirolsail surf shop in Innsbruck, this is the first good news of the day. Even if nobody knows it: the trade wind is also blowing here in Tirol! At least that's what we locals call our north wind at Lake Achensee. Unfortunately, you can't rely on our trade wind like you can in tropical waters. Hence my nervous question as to whether the wind would stay. "Looks good!" Manny's voice echoes through my mobile phone.
