Malta and Gozo
Malta and Gozo
Winter has the whole of Europe firmly in its grip - the whole of Europe? No, a good two hours' flight from Germany, a group of islands barely larger than Lake Constance is defying the cold. On Malta and Gozo, freeriders and wave surfers find almost perfect conditions in the winter months.

The thermometer in Central Europe has not exceeded zero degrees for months. We need a change of scene and start looking for a suitable destination for spring. We quickly find what we are looking for. Just two to three hours away by plane, small, sunny islands are waiting to be conquered: This time, however, not with lances and cannons, but with surfboards and fork trees.

Malta is world-famous as a holiday destination, but is completely unknown to most windsurfers as a good winter and spring spot. We have been following the wind conditions in Malta with great anticipation for weeks. The statistics promise the best yield for the period from November to January, but you can also expect plenty of wind in spring.

You can find these spots in the area guide:

- Malta: Mellieha Bay, Armier Bay, Qawra Point, Bahar-Ic-Caghaq, St.Thomas Bay, Marsaxlokk.

- Gozo: Ramla Bay, Ghajn Tuffieha Bay/Golden Bay
