Germany: Jade Bay
Germany: Jade Bay
Fed with mother's milk from the North Sea, the Jade Bay nestles to the left of the Weser in the flat expanse of East Frisia. When the tide comes in and it is full to bursting, surf-hungry windsurfers from Neuharlingersiel via Wilhelmshaven to Eckwarderhörne suck on it. German worldcupper Rik Fiddicke from Oldenburg is one of the offspring who grew up and became strong on the Jade Bay. In surf, the Frisian reveals where you can really get your fill.

East Frisia - for the non-Frisian, that sounds like tea, dykes, wide, green, flat land, sheep and Otto. The north-west of Germany lies in the surfing shadow of the well-known East Frisian Islands and top spots in Schleswig-Holstein. It is rarely recognised as a good spot for freeride or freestyle sessions - and wrongly so. The Jade Bay is one of the best regions in East Frisia. The blue curve was created by a powerful storm surge and forms a lake-like bay with a narrow passage to the North Sea. Due to the favourable shoreline of the Jade Bay, you can quickly find a spot that works for almost all wind directions.

You can find these spots in the area guide:

Wilhelmshaven Südstrand, Hooksiel, Neuharlingersiel, Eckwarderhörne, Dangast
