Training equipment can basically be divided into two groups. On the one hand, there is the group of "balancing boards", which primarily train your balance and dexterity. With additional weights and special exercises, you can also improve and maintain your strength.
On the other hand, you will find equipment for endurance training. As home trainers for SUP, we recommend classic rowing machines (for strength endurance and stamina training) and of course special SUP simulators (below).

The selection of boards on wheels is huge and with a little skill and time, you can put something together yourself. Here we present two designs that have been tried and tested on the market for a long time (Indo Board) or are relatively new (Balance Board). The wobble boards train your balance - this can never hurt, especially on narrower SUPs. You can find numerous exercises on the internet, with weights or juggling tasks, practising hardly ever gets boring and the level of difficulty can be constantly increased.
The completely rethought board for balance exercises is based on a clever rope system and uses the tried and tested "Blackroll" as a roller base. The Blackroll can also be used "solo" for numerous back exercises and other therapeutic gymnastics
The "Sensoboard" (see below), with which inventor and SUP master Moritz Martin had already presented a completely new concept, is now joined by the "Balance Board". The ingenious rope system allows the rolling movement to be slowed down in a controlled manner and the level of difficulty to be customised.
The maximum angle of inclination can be set by using Blackrolls of different sizes and firmness, ensuring good rolling even for athletes weighing over 85 kilos. The Sensosports Balance Board incl. Blackroll is available, for example at Amazon for 159 euros.
Since 1998, the Indo Board has been providing plenty of action on the beach and in the living room as a "fun and functional training device for beginners and professional athletes".
The foundation of the Indo Board is always the particularly robust and non-slip roller, the boards ("decks") are available in countless shapes and with the wildest graphics. There are plenty of exercises for this, as well as the most insane records, for example stacking several boards on top of each other.

The Sensoboard is the most special shape. Produced "made in Germany", it offers features like no other roller board. First and foremost, it offers freedom of movement in all directions. The "board" is only mounted in the centre on a ball; expanders tightened all around hold it in position. These rubber bands can be pre-tensioned to varying degrees to make it more wobbly or more stable. In contrast to the loose board-roller combinations, you can never lift off the roller together with the board. The system therefore offers a great deal of safety and is the ideal platform for more difficult exercises, even with weights, on wobbly terrain.
The Sensoboard has also evolved from a standard design to include numerous deck shapes and colours. The "drySUP" model below is the shape that is maximally adapted to SUP, including for endurance training.
Conclusion: A smart modification of the roller board with more freedom of movement and less risk >> e.g. available here.
With a few modifications and add-ons, the classic Sensoboard (above) can be converted into a complete SUP trainer. This makes it probably the most specialised home trainer for SUP.
The board remains agile around the roll axis, while the ingenious pull mechanism with rubber rope and pulleys allows paddling on both sides. This means that the Sensoboard is no longer just a balance trainer, but SUP-specific fitness equipment.
Conclusion: A statement and training tool de luxe for SUP enthusiasts with space in their living room.
