Paddle workshop: Rattling or slippery grip
Part 3: If the plug connection on the paddle is making noises or the shaft has become slippery, these tips for at home and on the move will help.

Rattling in the plug connection

If the lower plug-in connection rattles on three-piece paddles that have to manage without an additional clamp, neatly glued strips of smooth, thin and preferably stiff adhesive film can help. Stick it on, try it out - strip by strip - until the tube just goes in.

Slippery shaft

High-gloss carbon and aluminium are often simply too slippery to grip securely when wet or with sweaty hands. But there are various options for perfect grip even on the slipperiest of sticks.

Professional grip tape from RSPro is more non-slip than a shiny carbon shaft and quite gentle on the hand. However, it does not necessarily provide a better grip than a well-finished, matt shaft.
