First aid after a crash: your paddle is actually ready for hospitalisation? Don't panic: This can often be treated at home.

Specialist Claudio Fackelmann from the Carbon Clinic explains paddle therapy:

Mid-range paddle blades often consist of a foam core with a glass fibre laminate. This can crack if handled roughly. You will need epoxy resin, sandpaper, a brush, scales, a beaker, gloves and two to four clamps for the repair.

Alternatively, you can have it fixed by a specialist; the "Carbon-Klinik.de" on Lake Ammersee charges around 60 euros for such a repair.

2-component epoxy resin sticks like hell. Small quantities are available from modelling accessories. When buying, pay attention to the pot life, 5-minute epoxy hardens too quickly, even a professional can't manage that. The exact mixture is important, Claudio weighs out about 20 grams in total). Some resins are already available in dosing syringes, in which case they are mixed by volume.

The remaining resin is thickened with cotton flakes from the modelling accessories to a honey-like consistency.

The cotton flakes are also available in small units.
