The Seven Towers SUP Race returns to Lübeck on 18 July 2026, marking the start of Travemünde Week. The second edition of the race introduces a new feature: for the first time, the course will take participants all the way round the Old Town island. The clockwise circuit starts at The Newport marina and takes participants under eleven bridges before they reach the finish line. The event is part of the Nordic SUP League, a racing series that also stops in Eckernförde, Hanover and Hamburg, as well as Lübeck.

Two SUP races for different levels of ability

The Radio Lübeck Fun Explore is aimed at recreational athletes who complete the circuit once. The distance is around five kilometres and allows participants to experience Lübeck’s old town scenery from the water. The Long Distance Race, covering ten kilometres, challenges ambitious paddlers ranging from juniors to Masters over the age of 60. These athletes complete the circuit twice. Prize money totalling 2,000 euros is up for grabs for the top finishers in the Long Distance Race. The winners in each category will each receive 500 euros. The organiser will hold a prize draw amongst all participants in the Fun Explore, with the prize being a Finnlines mini-cruise from Travemünde to Helsinki and back for two adults and two children.

On the day of the event, the venue at The Newport will open its doors from 3 pm. Starboard and Sunova will be showcasing their latest board models and offering free equipment trials. Brand representatives will be on hand to provide professional advice. EXEO is organising various hands-on activities for children and adults. VW Senger Nutzfahrzeuge will be exhibiting its latest camper van models. Spectators will find plenty of opportunities to watch the race along the route. As well as the start and finish areas at The Newport, the eleven bridges surrounding the Old Town island offer ideal vantage points from which to cheer on the paddlers. Following the prize-giving ceremony, the communal barbecue will begin at 7.30 pm on the marina deck; this is included in the entry fee for all participants.

Registration and entry fees

Registration takes place online at 7tsup.com no later than five days before the event. Adults pay an entry fee of 39 euros; participants under the age of 18 pay 19 euros. The entry fee includes admission to the barbecue on the marina deck. Guests can book the barbecue separately.
