Prone paddling was long considered an insider discipline for a few enthusiasts. Long, bulky hardboards, complicated transport and high purchase costs put many water sports enthusiasts off. Gong now wants to change this with the I-Prone Trainer Range - four inflatable boards that enable training on the water without paddles, foils or rigs. The discipline develops endurance, cardio, core strength, mobility and the ability to read the water and conditions. These qualities transfer directly to the next surf, foil or windsurf session.
The new boards make it possible to paddle kneeling or lying down, feel the water between your fingers and work on your fitness and endurance, the manufacturer promises. Surf paddling improves, earlier take-offs on swells become possible, weak waves, bumps and long diagonals can be utilised. Even coastal rescue training is possible. According to the concept, the boards enable sessions when the conditions are too weak for other disciplines. Technically and visually, the Prone boards are close to conventional iSUPs, but the narrower width and special shape make hand paddling possible in the first place.
The I-Prone Trainer range includes four models: 10'6 for compact surf training and physical workouts, 12' for versatile planing and regular rides, 14' for endurance and long distance paddling and 18' for ultra-distance and maximum planing. All boards utilise the Woven Dropstitch Fusion construction with double stringers. This construction is designed to deliver stiffness, lightness and durability with true planing characteristics for inflatable boards.
