A circular route was paddleds with 3 laps and a total length of 18 kilometres. The long course was made even more difficult by the swell, wind and high temperatures. This race demanded everything from many participants and pushed some to their limits.
For the German teamFrithjof Sach and Carsten Kurmis competed first in the men's competition. Both didn't quite get the best start to the race and were caught in the choppy water of the faster starters after the beach start. The race was started at a very high pace by the top guys and the speed was also very high during the race.
Frithjof and Carsten needed some time to get used to the difficult conditions. The strong crosswind and its small waves, as well as the swell, which was travelling at a different angle, made it difficult for both of them to maintain their rhythm. In the end, both were able to conquer the 18 kilometres and crossed the finish line happy with their performance. Carsten finished in 29th place and Frithjof finished in 30th place directly behind Carsten.
For the womenBettina Kohl was at the start. She spontaneously stepped in for Hannah Leni Krah, who was unable to take part in the 18km due to health reasons. Bettina took on the 18km without any training in order to at least score some points for the team's country ranking. Bettina also had to contend with the less than perfect conditions and the almost cloudless sky in the women's race. Especially in the women's race, the mercilessly shining sun pushed many participants to their limits. Bettina coped relatively well with the sun and completed the 18 kilometres. In the end, she finished in 26th place. She was therefore able to collect some points for the team.
On Sundaythe event ends with the team relay and the subsequent award ceremony.
As there are no Prone paddlers this year have competed for Germany, this year the team relay will take place without the German team.
