The SUP scene is looking forward to Erfurt, where the fourth stop of the SUP Alps Trophy will take place at the "Lago di Alpi" on 12 and 13 June 2025. The Aqua-FUN Centre on Lake Alperstedt will be the venue for top-class competitions where the elite of German stand-up paddling will compete. The men's start list reads like a who's who of the scene and promises races at championship level.

Strong field of participants in the men's competition

Some of the best German SUP athletes will be competing in the men's event. The favourites include Normen Weber, Manuel Lauble and Hermann Husslein. Peter Weidert, Bastian Grimm and Benyam Bossack will also be fighting for the top places. Local hero Michele Capizzi, who knows his home track perfectly and will certainly give his all to shine in front of his home crowd, is eagerly awaited. Lasse Sauerteig completes the high-calibre field and could spring a surprise or two. Will Ole Schwarz also make an appearance?

Juniors mix it with the ladies

Exciting competitions are also on the cards in the women's competition. Particularly interesting: with Elin Van der Sar and Vivien Franke, two juniors could paddle their way onto the podium. This underlines the strong work of young talent in German SUP sport and promises thrilling duels between the established athletes and the up-and-coming talents.

Experienced paddlers in the master classes

The masters classes are also well-staffed and promise top-class sport. Well-known names such as Arnd Dünzinger, Henrik Carstens and Alex Gäbler will be competing in the Master 60 category. Reinhold Weiss and Thomas Ullstein will also be competing for podium places. Brigitte Banck and Annet Paulenz-Theil will be competing in the women's category. In the Master 50 category, Peter Weidert, Gerd Weisner and Carsten Hanke will be among those competing. Enrico Völzke, Jörg Bossack and Thomas Hinkel will also be putting their many years of experience to the test.

Versatile programme over two days

The event offers a varied programme over two days. On Friday, participants will have the opportunity to train under the guidance of DKV SUP Race trainers Martin Teichmann and Peter Weidert. On Saturday, the Pro Longdistance over 12 kilometres is on the programme, followed by a fun race over 3 kilometres. Sunday will be rounded off with a technical race. SUP enthusiasts will also have the opportunity to test the latest race boards from various manufacturers such as Light Board Corp and Starboard. This emphasises the character of the event as a meeting point for the entire SUP community.

The materials engineering graduate worked as a surf instructor on the Ijsselmeer during his studies and competed for several seasons for the Essen sailing team in the Surfbundesliga and the Funboard Cup. He completed a traineeship at surf-Magazin in the test department and since then has actively accompanied almost all tests on the boom and for more than 10 years also as a photographer. Stephan has covered many thousands of test kilometers, mainly on Lake Garda and in Langebaan, but also in Egypt and Tobago. He gets his hands on over 100 new sails and boards every year as his company car. Privately, he prefers to surf with a foil on Lake Walchensee or “unfortunately far too rarely” in the waves. SUP is Stephan's second passion, which he pursued for several years at numerous SUP races. Today, he prefers to paddle on river tours with family or friends - even for several days.
