NSP at APM: Renowned SUP and surfing brand now in the same sales organisation as StarboardPhoto: NSP
Anyone who has done a surfing course will certainly be familiar with NSP. But the SUP boards, especially in racing, are also internationally recognised.
NSP, the surfing and SUP brand, will also be distributed by APM in future. This could increase its presence in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. We asked Flo Brunner, Managing Director of APM, four quick questions.

surf: You are now also distributing NSP in the SUP segment alongside Starboard, what makes the SUP board range from NSP interesting for you and the customer?

Flo Brunner: Our initial interest in NSP was in surfing. We wanted to enter another segment of water sports. This is also where the roots of NSP lie, founded in 2001 by "Buzz" Hansen on Maui. SUP boards were added to the programme about 10 years later, with the same focus - to bring affordable and durable boards with a top price-performance ratio to the market.

Is NSP more of a complement to Starboard or is there a big overlap? Are there perhaps brand priorities, for example in terms of hardboard and inflatable?

We clearly see NSP as a complement to the Starboard range, as we can offer boards in a different price segment with NSP. But yes, there are also overlaps; both brands are among the top international brands for SUP raceboards in particular.
When it comes to inflatables, Starboard is the TOP brand in the premium segment with its product range. NSP is in the mid-price segment with a manageable range.

Is there an NSP model that you are particularly keen on?

I've always been a fan of composite boards and I personally like the Puma the best. A sporty board with widths of 22", 24" and 26" that will delight both the long-distance paddler and the so-called weekend warrior racer.

How do you like this article?

Where will NSP be available to buy? In the same shops as Starboard products?

Like Starboard, NSP is sold exclusively through specialised dealers. You can find our dealers on www.apm-marketing.de.

The materials engineering graduate worked as a surf instructor on the Ijsselmeer during his studies and competed for several seasons for the Essen sailing team in the Surfbundesliga and the Funboard Cup. He completed a traineeship at surf-Magazin in the test department and since then has actively accompanied almost all tests on the boom and for more than 10 years also as a photographer. Stephan has covered many thousands of test kilometers, mainly on Lake Garda and in Langebaan, but also in Egypt and Tobago. He gets his hands on over 100 new sails and boards every year as his company car. Privately, he prefers to surf with a foil on Lake Walchensee or “unfortunately far too rarely” in the waves. SUP is Stephan's second passion, which he pursued for several years at numerous SUP races. Today, he prefers to paddle on river tours with family or friends - even for several days.
