Daniel Senda (born in Lübeck) is the founder of Rapa Nui Surfschool and opened a small shop in La Pared on Fuerteventura in April 2006. At that time there was only one other surf school in the south and things were going well straight away. At the beginning of January 2007, I (Andreas Rese) and Daniel got to know each other here on Fuerteventura. After several conversations, we immediately realised that we had the same passion for surfing and the ocean. So we decided to do it together. It was immediately clear to us that we wanted to do it properly and professionally. The feedback from our customers proved us right and we knew we were on the right track.

This is how Rapa Nui Surfschool & Camps grew year after year. It wasn't easy and anyone who thinks that a surf school is easy going under the Fuerteventura sun is wrong! Working 10-12 hours a day was normal, but it pays off when you have a vision in mind: To run one of the best surf schools in Europe.

Our base and camp is now in Costa Calma. There we run a surf shop with an intriguing boardriders bar. We discovered the SUP (we didn't know it was called that at the time) at the end of 2007 because there are many incredibly good outside reefs on Fuerteventura that were impossible to surf with a conventional surfboard. The waves ran far off the coast and so we came up with the idea of catching the waves with a windsurf board and paddle. It worked, but it wasn't the yellow of the egg either.

In 2008, Daniel travelled to France and saw the first paddle boards. He phoned me straight away and told me about his discovery. On his return, we didn't waste any time and travelled to the boat show in Düsseldorf. From there, we brought our first SUP boards to the island by plane ourselves. SUP is now becoming more and more popular on Fuerteventura. The first SUP festivals and racing contests are taking place. SUP allows you to discover so many new spots where there are no crowds and where you can see the island from a completely different perspective. Today, the latest boards from NSP, Bic and Tuflite are available to our customers in our shop and you could say that we were the first on Fuerteventura to offer SUP surfing.

Our SUP surf instructor Lucy Reinhold became world champion at the Jever SUP World Cup last year and supports us with the latest news from the scene. From touring surfing to waveriding, our customers can now take advantage of the offer every day. Thanks to our location on the Costa Calma, which is the narrowest part of Fuerteventura, you can reach both coasts (east-west coast) by car in less than 10 minutes. Our surf camp right next to our Boardriders Bar is open all year round and offers our customers an upscale ambience.
