Björn Dunkerbeck is coming to Osnabrück as patron of the Saltwater Kids Ocean Academy and will be bringing his film with him
L&T is bringing the Saltwater Kids Ocean Academy to Osnabrück. From 21 to 22 October 2026, children aged between nine and 15 will learn to surf on the Hasewelle. Björn Dunkerbeck is supporting the project as its patron and will be attending the autograph session in person.

On 21 and 22 October 2026, the L&T Hasewelle will be the venue for a special surfing event. In collaboration with the Saltwater Kids Ocean Academy, the Osnabrück-based fashion retailer is inviting children aged between nine and 15 to a two-day kids’ camp. Under the guidance of experienced surf coaches from L&T and the Saltwater Crew, participants will attempt their first take-offs on the artificial wave right in the city centre. The programme combines surfing with environmental education and is based on the motto “Protect. Educate. Empower” of the international children’s charity Right To Play. The Hasewelle thus becomes a place of learning where children can develop balance and self-confidence through play, whilst at the same time learning why water and nature must be protected. Places are limited; registration is available online at www.l-t.de/kids-surf-camp.

Dunkerbeck’s film “Born to Windsurf” on the big screen

Patron Björn Dunkerbeck will also be attending in person in Osnabrück. The 42-time windsurfing world champion supports the Saltwater Kids Ocean Academy as its patron and considers the project a cause close to his heart. During an autograph session and an open discussion, the most successful windsurfer of all time will talk about his love for the sea and his motivation to inspire young people to take up water sports. Dunkerbeck will emphasise why sustainability must start with the very youngest. On the evening of 21 October, the Dunkerbeck documentary will be screened “Born to Windsurf” in the hall; separate registration is required for this.

SpongeBob and HiFly Collection

Programme: SpongeBob SquarePants will be popping in in person to greet the children at the Hasewelle. The underwater star from Bikini Bottom is sponsoring the KidsAcademy and will be on hand to take some unforgettable souvenir photos. To mark the occasion, L&T is exclusively presenting the new HiFly x SpongeBob Surf Collection. HiFly was one of the world’s best-known windsurfing brands in the 1980s. After a long hiatus, the A traditional brand reborn as a fashion and lifestyle brand and is making its comeback at L&T. The brand combines the legendary ‘Glory Days of Windsurfing’ with a modern lifestyle – from the water to the beach and into the city. The collection will be available during the event and consists of sustainably produced clothing made from certified organic cotton.
