At the SUP Alps Trophy 2025 on Lake Altmühlsee, the participants experienced a weekend full of action and challenges. In winds of up to 20 knots, the athletes had to put their skills to the test. The first day kicked off with the 10-kilometre long-distance race, in which the favourites battled it out in thrilling duels for the top positions. You can find all the results below.

Exciting long-distance race

A thrilling three-way battle developed at the front of the field on the demanding four-lap course, which included upwind, downwind and sidewind sections. After the start, Manuel Lauble and Peter Weidert initially pulled away from the field. On the second lap, however, Normen Weber caught up with the leaders and took over the pursuit of the leading duo. With an impressive chase, Weber managed to catch up with Manuel Lauble on the third lap. In a thrilling finish, Weber was finally able to take the lead in the downwind passage and clinch victory. Behind the leading trio, the other top athletes fought thrilling battles for position. Viktor Zöllner secured fourth place with a consistently strong performance, closely followed by Czech racer Ondrej Petrak. The strong German juniors Anton Birkicht and Cedric Fahlbusch also showed their skills and placed among the front runners. There were also exciting changes of position in positions 11 to 20 throughout the race.

Oda Diestel dominates the women's competition

Oda Diestel put in an outstanding performance in the women's race. With an impressive performance, she finished in 15th place overall, impressively underlining her position as one of the absolute top athletes in 2025. Her dominance in the women's classification was undisputed.

Convincing young talent

Parallel to the main race, the youngest participants completed a shortened distance of 5 kilometres. Andri Hack in particular showed his great talent here. With his victory in the short distance, he proved that he already has the potential to be among the front runners in the junior and men's races in the future.

Challenging short distance race

On the second day of the competition, the short distance race over 3 kilometres was on the agenda. In even stronger wind conditions, the athletes had to summon up all their skills to master the short but intense course. The youngest participants in particular impressed with their fighting spirit and determination in these challenging conditions.

Conclusion and outlook

The SUP Alps Trophy 2025 at Altmühlsee once again demonstrated the high level of SUP racing in Europe. The combination of technically demanding courses and challenging wind conditions demanded everything from the athletes and ensured spectacular competitions. Looking ahead to the rest of the season, fans can look forward to exciting duels between the established top riders and up-and-coming young talents. Special praise is due to the organisers Willi and Clemens from the Altmühlsee surf centre. With their professional organisation, the friendly atmosphere and the unusual trophies and T-shirts, they created the perfect conditions for a successful event.

Stephan Gölnitz

Deputy Editor in Chief surf

Stephan Gölnitz comes from Bochum and had Holland as his home windsurfing territory for many years before moving to Munich in 1996 for the job of test editor at surf magazine. The materials engineering graduate worked as a surf instructor on the Ijsselmeer during his studies and competed for several seasons for the Essen sailing team in the Surfbundesliga and the Funboard Cup. He completed a traineeship at surf-Magazin in the test department and since then has actively accompanied almost all tests on the boom and for more than 10 years also as a photographer. Stephan has covered many thousands of test kilometers, mainly on Lake Garda and in Langebaan, but also in Egypt and Tobago. He gets his hands on over 100 new sails and boards every year as his company car. Privately, he prefers to surf with a foil on Lake Walchensee or “unfortunately far too rarely” in the waves. SUP is Stephan's second passion, which he pursued for several years at numerous SUP races. Today, he prefers to paddle on river tours with family or friends - even for several days.
