Versatile competition programme
The heart of the event is the long distance race around the island of Tabarca on Saturday 17 May. Elite athletes and juniors will compete in separate starts for men and women. 10,000 euros in prize money will be up for grabs. In the afternoon, a SUP kids' race is also on the programme, where youngsters can put their skills to the test. The SUP Foil Downwind Race, which showcases the latest developments in SUP sport, is set to be a particular highlight. The day will conclude with an autograph session with the professional athletes, where fans can experience the stars up close.
Technical Race as the crowning finale
On Sunday 18 May, the EuroTour SUP Technical Race will be the crowning finale of the event. In this format, the athletes have to complete a course with several buoys as quickly as possible, which requires tactical skill and manoeuvrability as well as endurance. The technical race promises particularly exciting duels and is sure to attract numerous spectators to the coast. The EuroTour Tabarca Island Race 2025 will end with the subsequent award ceremony and closing ceremony.
Unique location as a crowd puller
The island of Tabarca off the coast of the Spanish city of Alicante offers a unique backdrop for the SUP competition. As Spain's smallest inhabited island and marine reserve, it combines crystal-clear water with historical charm. The waters around Tabarca promise challenging but fair conditions for the athletes. Spectators can follow the races from both the mainland and the island and enjoy the Mediterranean atmosphere.
Supporting programme and organisation
The organisers have put together an extensive supporting programme, which begins on Friday with the registration of participants and the transport of equipment to the island. A special highlight will be the opening ceremony with a parade of nations on Friday evening, where the international SUP community will present itself. Ferry connections between the mainland and the island will ensure that everything runs smoothly. The central location of Alicante with its international airport also makes travelling easier for athletes and spectators from all over the world.
