Who are you and where can you be found?
Surf Sport Rheinhausen is located in the heart of the Ruhr area, at Friedrich-Ebert-Straße 70-74 in 47226 Duisburg!
When was your shop founded, what have been important milestones since then?
Our shop has been around since 1982, so for more than 43 years! I am the third generation to run the shop.
What sports do you have in your programme?
We have everything to do with wind and water sports (SUP, windsurfing, kitesurfing, wings, surfing and all types of foil)
Approximately how many boards, sails and wings do you have in stock?
It's hard for me to say how much material we have in the shop. Our exhibition is over 1200 square metres full of surf equipment, as you can see in the pictures!
Can I also order online from you?
Order online? No problem! But it's most fun when you visit us in person. We still love the direct dialogue.
Do you have special events like camps, flea markets, parties or something like that?
We organise 1-2 events a year, including our in-house exhibition at the end of January, which is intended as a nostalgic replacement for our appearance at boot Düsseldorf. We also organise a small season opening, usually in May. And every five years we celebrate our anniversary!

What makes you special?
Most of our sales are still made directly in the shop via our large showroom. Many customers still appreciate our personal advice and have relied on our expertise in windsurfing, wings and kitesurfing for decades. In addition, we now have more and more equipment in stock for testing right here in the shop. Especially when it comes to wing foiling, which for many is associated with uncertainties - for example when choosing the volume or the right foil size - it helps enormously to be able to simply say: "Take it with you, try it out and decide what you feel most comfortable with." This option is a huge help for many of our customers when making a purchase decision.
Your most bizarre/unusual experience in the shop?
There are quite a few of these in the surf industry ... 😄
What is your impression of the market and the attitude of customers?
It's a challenging time full of changes, enough for a whole article. And yet, I'm positive about the future and hope that more and more customers will return to their local shops. After all, it is the personal dialogue, genuine advice and the opportunity to view and experience materials directly on site that make the difference. Nowadays, anyone can send things online - but taking the time, giving honest advice and presenting it with passion makes all the difference for me personally when it comes to goods that require a lot of advice, such as wingfoils or windsurfing.
