Pupils can try out and familiarise themselves with various water sports at boot Düsseldorf. In Hall 17 they can go skimboarding, wakeboarding or SUP every day.
Top stars, exciting contests and plenty of hands-on activities: Hall 17 at boot Düsseldorf is bringing surfing back to the big stage in 2026 - and everyone can get on a board themselves.

Try it out! is the motto for visitors to Surfsporthalle 17, where they can try out various surfing sports. The hands-on areas offer a relaxed environment to learn new things and experienced coaches explain equipment, technique and give practical tips for the first few metres on the water.

DEG players Moritz Wirth and Luis Üffing tried out 17 different water sports in the surfing hall and tried out pumping, wakeboarding and SUP riding.

The programme includes daily sessions on the skimboard, SUP or wakeboard, pump foiling with first "flight attempts" or windsurfing supported by 82 wind machines. At the VDWS Surf Academy, surf legend Bjørn Dunkerbeck also gives tips on how to take your first steps on a windsurfing board. If you want to aim high, you can climb up to the ceiling of the hall on the kitesurf simulator.

The slots can be booked in advance on the boot Düsseldorf website. For all those who are spontaneous, there is still the opportunity to get a slot on site; equipment such as wetsuits, helmets and impact protection waistcoats are available.
