Who are you and where can you be found?

We are the Surfshop Fehmarn in Landkirchen, Michi and Basti have been on the market for 20 years, the shop itself for 40 years.

When was your shop founded, what have been important milestones since then?

It all started in 2005 and since then there have been visits from Klaas Voget, Josh Stone, Björn Dunkerbeck, Tati Franz, Graham Ezzy, Ben Severne, Sonni Höhnscheid, Werner Gnigler, Bryan Talma, Lala and Francisco Goya, Bernd Flessner, Ricardo Campello, Martin Brandner, Clinton Filen and of course Andreas Erbe 😊.

What sports do you have in your programme?

Kite, wing, SUP and of course windsurfing!

Approximately how many boards, sails and wings do you have in stock?

New: 60 sails, boards 50, wings 40, foils 25, used: sails 160, boards 70, wings 20

Do you have special events like camps, flea markets, parties or something like that?

Test events together with various manufacturers, clinics on rigging and riding technique

What makes you special?

We are passionate about water sports, honest advice is our top priority and the experience we have gained over the years is priceless. Our Explanatory videos on YouTube are accessible to everyone and help with the selection of materials.

Your most bizarre/unusual experience in the shop?

A customer asked us to "donate" the large stone from a flower bed in front of our shop, as her husband had wished to receive his gravestone from it after his death.

What is your impression of the market and the attitude of customers?

Customers are not sure whether they want to and can afford to spend so much money on materials. No wonder with the prices. People need to realise that surfing is the best sport you can do. The thrill of being able to feel the elements in the fresh air is unrivalled. The market doesn't always have to deal with superlatives, everyone has actually seen that with SUP. A sport that anyone can practise and afford, but to be honest is only a fraction as much fun as windsurfing, was a good example of what is still possible in terms of water sports.
