In the last week of July, windsurfers will once again be competing in the Multivan Windsurf Cup on Sylt. At the same time, this year for the first time there will be the "Sylt SUP Trophy". This is a stand-by contest in which the aim is to circumnavigate the island on a SUP in one week. Three stages are planned: A northern leg, a southern leg and a downwinder on the western side off Westerland (see picture gallery). In total, the planned route is around 90 kilometres long.
Behind this is the "Wacky SUP Club" run by former windsurfing cupper Alexander Wilken. "Depending on the weather conditions, we will start from the west or east side. In any case, the three races will be organised and flexibly adapted," says Alex. Everyone can paddle on a board of their choice up to a maximum length of 18 feet, a GPS device and a lifejacket or Restube are mandatory, and everyone should also have a mobile phone with them. If there are waves, a wave challenge will also be started outside the classification.
2o participants can take part, registration deadline is 17 July. The registration fee of 170.00 euros includes the following services for participants:
