The Austrian SUP Federation (ASF) and the SUP Alps Trophy will be organising numerous races in the Salzkammergut region. These include "The Legend of OX", a fun race that is paddled exclusively on iSUP boards up to 14'00''. As a short distance, it also counts towards the SUP Alps Trophy ranking, as does the long distance. There will also be a Kids Race, the LOX Battle as a duel tournament with special paddles and, for the first time, a team race with relay teams of three.
What is behind "The Legend of the Ox"? Firstly the short distance race, but of course also a legend that sounds pretty adventurous. It has to do with an ox and a mini island in Lake Wolfgangsee that becomes a turning buoy.
Six disciplines, including the technical race, will take place over two days in one of the most impressive landscapes in the Alps. Not only are many Austrian paddlers expected to attend the event, which is an absolute must in the SUP calendar, but the top racers of the international SUP Alps Trophy will also be making their second tour stop in Austria with this race after the competition on Lake Heiterwanger See.
Pre-registration is advisable and also saves money, as late registrants on site pay a surcharge of 10 euros.
