From 6 to 9 June 2025, a yoga surf retreat will take place for the first time at the Wangerooge surf school. The event is aimed at anyone who wants to improve their surfing skills and recharge their batteries through yoga at the same time. The retreat is organised by yoga teacher Sina Münz-Zeise in cooperation with the local Wangerooge surf school. The combination of yoga and surfing should enable participants to strengthen both their inner balance and their skills on the board.
The four-day programme offers a balanced mix of yoga sessions, surf lessons and workshops, depending on the weather conditions. The Wangerooge surf school provides the necessary equipment and offers professional lessons for different levels. In the afternoon, participants can choose between acroyoga and Thai yoga massage. The evenings end with relaxing yin yoga classes.
Accommodation is provided in two cosy glamping tents directly behind the surf school. Each tent has a solid floor and four beds with pillows and duvets. The so-called "Blue House" serves as a communal lounge with cooking and cooling facilities. Meals are prepared and eaten here. In bad weather, yoga classes and workshops also take place here. Sanitary facilities with showers for the retreat participants are located in the immediate vicinity.
Sina Münz-Zeise, the initiator of the retreat, emphasises a relaxed atmosphere in her classes. "It is important to me to align all positions in an anatomically sensible way in order to promote a good body awareness," explains the yoga teacher. Her motto is: "Keep it simple. Stay yourself. Enjoy the movement." This philosophy is also reflected in the concept of the retreat. Participants should have the opportunity to let go of tension and gain new experiences in a trusting small group.
The Wangerooge surf school brings many years of experience to the water sports part of the retreat. The team not only offers surfing, but also covers sports such as kitesurfing, windsurfing, wingsurfing and stand-up paddling. "Our young and highly trained team is highly motivated and will definitely get you on the board this weekend," promises the surf school.
You can travel to the car-free island of Wangerooge by ferry, Sprinter or plane from Harlesiel harbour. Due to the Whitsun weekend, the organisers recommend booking tickets early. The total price for the retreat is 340 euros and includes accommodation, meals, one or two water sports sessions including equipment, two workshops, three yoga classes and two meditation sessions. The price does not include travel to and from the retreat or the tourist tax of 5 euros per day.
