Well-filled halls on the first day of boot 2024, lots of new products and action in Boardsport Hall 17. We were out and about and show you the most exciting new products from the windsurfing, wing and SUP sectors!

AHD/AFS

In addition to new wingboards and foil components, the French brand AFS also has two new shapes from AHD. The well-known brand is still well represented on the market in France, and with a new freerider and a slalom board, AHD is set to become more present in Germany once again

Armstrong

Armstrong is showing a wide range of foil components at the boot, with the Performance mast and the Performance versions with a significantly thinner profile being new. Although this makes them harder to ride, they are significantly faster for the professional sector. There is also a completely new range of high aspect foils. In addition to ten wingboards, Armstrong has a new downwind board that is not yet available on the market with more rocker for faster take-off, as well as the WKT, a board for wake or pump foiling. The Armstrong Wing XPS is said to be very firm and consists of many small, optimally stitched parts that are designed to prevent stretching. Small mini battens are designed to stabilise the wing in strong winds and can be removed in the wave.

Ensis

With the Rock'n'Roll, Ensis has a completely new, colourful range of boards based on Balz Müller's Pro model. It comes with an updated shape and a flatter underwater hull from 27 to 167 litres. Also new is the Waltz in the trendy downwinder range, which should also be suitable as a wingboard in light winds. Another new product is the Birdie wing trapeze, which is manufactured entirely in Switzerland in workshops for people with disabilities. One highlight is the hook fastener, which comes from paragliding. The topspin of the wings has been given new, smaller sizes with a shorter boom.

F2

Last year, the former mega brand announced a comeback once again, but production problems delayed the launch of new windsurf boards. However, shaper Sergio Alonso Minuth from Sailboards Tarifa is confident that things can now get underway in spring 2024. At boot, F2 will be showcasing a complete range from wave to freerace, named after the former "F" cult names such as Sunset, Bullitt, Vegas etc. Three sail lines are also to be launched, which were co-developed by Tribal (formerly KA Sails). F2 also wants to set up a new TEam. There is also the familiar range of affordable wings, SUPs and accessories.

GunSails

The new Spectro freerace sail can be seen as a fresh innovation on the GunSails stand and is set to replace the Exceed and Vector models in the medium term. With six or seven battens and two cambers, the Spectro should offer plenty of power, but also have good handling thanks to the relatively narrow mast sleeve. The rest of the sail range remains known for the new season In future, the model range is to be made more compact. However, GunSails boss Jörg Müller has announced some new products for 2025. In the wing sector, where GunSails is represented with hardboards, inflatables, foils and wings, there will also be some new products over the course of the spring. These include a new wing with hard handles and a new edition of the inflatables. For the iSUPs, which are only available from GunSails with a windsurf option, a new dropstitch technology is set to save two to three kilos in weight.

Indiana

Andy Widmann describes the most important innovation at Indiana as the new foil mast, which is said to be significantly stiffer and completely ventilation-free - in carbon as well as aluminium. Indiana also has a new downwind board, the LeVoir, which can also be used as a wingboard in light winds, especially on inland areas with short waves. There are new shapes and sizes in the pump foil range, where the deck shape in particular has been optimised for stiffer boards with better grip. In the SUP range, the touring shapes have been revised and there is also a new wave SUP with a moderate shape for occasional paddlers. In terms of foils, there is a new range for wings, as well as new downwind foils.

Jimmy Lewis

Downwind also with the Jimmy Lewis boards from Haiku Sports: The Twisted V is new and comes with a special tail that was developed for Laird Hamilton. Also new is the Destroyer HP logging board, which was developed for the Australian division and, with 125 litres at 10 feet, is aimed at a very sporty target group. An exciting feature is the Foil Boost from Stokefoil: an e-drive that can be attached to any mast and whose battery lasts for up to 50 boosts to get the foil flying - or for around 15 minutes of pure e-foiling if it is attached further down. Haiku Sports has also included the Wing PPS M1, which we have already been able to test and new foils from Cloud IX, which should be significantly faster.

SAB Foils

With the Tornado, SAB Foils has brought along a wingoil board that is designed to provide good planing in light, gusty winds, based on the downwind boards. The Italians will also be showcasing their Quick Release, which allows the mast and board or mast and tuttle box to be separated in just a few seconds. A conical pin is designed to ensure a wobble-free fit. In addition to the racing sector, the target group is all foilers who want to leave their board on the board so as not to change the trim.

Starboard/Severne

We have already introduced you to the new Moto from Severne, and the freerace cloth will also be there in Düsseldorf. Severne will also be showcasing new editions of the NCX and the lightweight upstart sail Convert. The S1 is also available in green in 2024 and has been given more planing power in sizes 4.8 and 5.2, while the Pro version of the Blade is now glued in order to optimally distribute the pull on the integrated threads. In terms of boards, the Pyro has been given softer fins and the Dyno freemove board has become "wavier" for the new year.

The centrepiece innovation in the Starboard range is the Go Fly, a board for foil beginners. The relatively long board has a pronounced V on the wide nose to make touchdowns smoother and get out of the water as easily as possible. The Go Fly comes with a foil adapted to the board, which is designed to enable easy and forgiving take-offs with a thick pro. The Freerider Futura is also completely new and available in two additional sizes. The code has also been revised and the centre fin of the freemove board now always comes as a power box.

According to Carsten Kurmis, the new Deluxe light dropstitch technology with more rigidity and a weight reduction of two to three kilos is a new addition to the SUP range. Another new feature is the Racer XX and the three-part, streamlined fin box on the Deluxe light Roll, which is designed to make rolling in easier. The other iSUP shapes have largely remained the same. The raceboards GenR, Allstar and Sprint have been given new shapes, the Sprint has been given a rounded pintail, while the Allstar has less volume in the nose, both are said to have become more stable. With the Ace, Starboard is also presenting a downwind foil board, a shrunken version of the old Ace with or without footstraps, which is available both as a hardboard and as inflatables.

The wing range with the Air and Go models is completely new, whereby the Air will be available in various constructions with Hookipa or Aluula. Another construction method is the new Ultra X material, which is laminated with Dyneema strips on one side and will be used in all new models. As well as being lightweight, the white fabric should not stretch. In addition, all wings apart from the Air Team and the Go come with a carbon handle.

Tahe/SIC

In addition to the classic Techno and Windfoil boards, Tahe, formerly Bic, also has a new 260-litre Beach 260 D training board with a stretched shape. There is also a SUP with an electric drive in the underwater hull. The new Tahe Aria wing board will also be on show, We were able to test the model recently . At SIC, the SUPs have been given new designs; the flat-water race SUP RST is completely new as the successor to the RS, with an optimised scoop rocker line and water drainage in the standing area. The SIC Raptor wingboard is also on show.

We One

The Austrians, who caused a surprise with their debut at boot last year, will be presenting their range at the stand of their new partner GunSails. We One boss Gerhard Scharl assures that the boards are constantly being revised and optimised based on feedback from customers and tests. For example, the We Wave has been completely revised, the straps and fin boxes have been changed, the Free Wave now has slot boxes and a smaller US box. New features include a pro version of the Freestyler, and an intermediate board has also been announced. A pure training board with centreboard and soft deck is also new to the range. As part of the collaboration with GunSails, the designs will soon be harmonised. We One also has a complete range of wing boards in its programme.

More news, more details and much more will be available here in the next few days!
