Sailors are familiar with the "lazy jack" - ropes permanently installed on the mast that save a lot of work when hauling in the sail. Here comes the "Lazy Rack" - the Yakima SUP Dawg roof rack with integrated, lockable and steel wire-reinforced straps.

With its wide claws, the roof rack grips far around the bars and is tightened with easy-grip wing screws. The straps run virtually inside and are firmly connected to the carrier on one side.

To load, the board (up to 92 cm wide) is placed on the soft rubber pads, the strap is thrown over once, the edge protection covers are pushed into position and then the strap is threaded into the integrated clamp. Pull tight, stow the remaining strap in the roof rack, lock if necessary - done!

It's really quick and easy. However, you have to load a little higher and we didn't check the anti-theft protection. However, we were able to check "empty runs" up to 130 km/h - fortunately, nothing whistled at all. The bracket can also be removed quickly at any time without tools. Two iSUPs fit under the harness.

The charging luxury costs 308 euros.

Stephan Gölnitz comes from Bochum and had Holland as his home windsurfing territory for many years before moving to Munich in 1996 for the job of test editor at surf magazine. The materials engineering graduate worked as a surf instructor on the Ijsselmeer during his studies and competed for several seasons for the Essen sailing team in the Surfbundesliga and the Funboard Cup. He completed a traineeship at surf-Magazin in the test department and since then has actively accompanied almost all tests on the boom and for more than 10 years also as a photographer. Stephan has covered many thousands of test kilometers, mainly on Lake Garda and in Langebaan, but also in Egypt and Tobago. He gets his hands on over 100 new sails and boards every year as his company car. Privately, he prefers to surf with a foil on Lake Walchensee or “unfortunately far too rarely” in the waves. SUP is Stephan's second passion, which he pursued for several years at numerous SUP races. Today, he prefers to paddle on river tours with family or friends - even for several days.
