Extremely warm winter shoe for SUP
The "QD Boots" from Enth Degree are our find of the week. Away from classic neoprene surf boots, this is a very warm boot that not only protects against the cold, but is also well suited for carrying passages thanks to its grippy sole.

Our top 5 among the classic surf winter shoes we had in this article already presented. This shoe tested here - with a slightly different concept - also proves to be particularly good for winter SUP.

While Surf Boots The shoe is designed to provide the best possible board feel, and therefore favours smoother, not too thick soles.

The Enth Degree QD Boot stands on a solid outsole with the right profile and a little cushioning when walking. This coarse sole also provides the necessary insulation from underneath for the really cold days. It also gives you a good grip on the often wet, slippery meadows when accessing the lake or on river tours. According to the specifications (we had the size 13/47 for testing), the shoes run a little large rather than too small. This can be an advantage on a touring SUP in winter, as it allows the toes to move or you can fit a waterproof sock underneath or an additional sole.

However, at least the additional sock is likely to be not even necessary for thermal insulation. The shoe is made from a full six millimetres of neoprene (our measurement) and is equipped with a cosy, quick-drying fleece lining, which is also partially used in high-quality winter wetsuits.

The upper closes at the top with a slightly narrower but very elasticated cuff. The material throughout the shoe is also very elastic so you can slip in and out really quickly. The shoe seemed to us to have maximum waterproofing, and our "test" (full filling with water and leaving for half an hour) showed hardly any water loss through the seams.

In practicethe shoe was very warm and comfortable on the foot. The fit was a little loose when "walking", but very comfortable on the touring board, with good grip and sufficient feeling even for fast turns. The shoes also stayed dry during the necessary steps through the water when launching and landing.

Conclusion:The QD boots are probably among the warmest shoes for stand-up paddling in winter, with a particularly thick sole for good grip. In our opinion, they are ideal for SUP tours, but not for SUP in the waves. The price is 89 euros.
