Solid protection that can only be fitted when necessary.
If you want to protect your paddle - for example for occasional SUP river tours - you might find the solution at Siren: a flexible and removable edge protector for all paddle blades with an edge thickness of one to four millimetres.

This protection, which is also used for sheet metal edges, is designed to reliably protect the SUP paddle from cracks and scratches. The flexible steel insert encased in soft PVC offers optimum protection, regardless of whether the paddle is pushed off walls or comes into contact with the bank or shallow water. This makes the protection ideal for river tours in shallow waters, for example.

The edge protection is not only weather and temperature resistant, but is also easy to install and remove: It holds without glue! Simply place it in the centre and press it on, and the paddle is ready for the next tour - without any worries about damage. The paddling experience remains untroubled and you can concentrate fully on your SUP adventures in the great outdoors. The paddle guard costs 9.90 euros and can be ordered here.

Deputy Editor in Chief surf

Stephan Gölnitz comes from Bochum and had Holland as his home windsurfing territory for many years before moving to Munich in 1996 for the job of test editor at surf magazine. The materials engineering graduate worked as a surf instructor on the Ijsselmeer during his studies and competed for several seasons for the Essen sailing team in the Surfbundesliga and the Funboard Cup. He completed a traineeship at surf-Magazin in the test department and since then has actively accompanied almost all tests on the boom and for more than 10 years also as a photographer. Stephan has covered many thousands of test kilometers, mainly on Lake Garda and in Langebaan, but also in Egypt and Tobago. He gets his hands on over 100 new sails and boards every year as his company car. Privately, he prefers to surf with a foil on Lake Walchensee or “unfortunately far too rarely” in the waves. SUP is Stephan's second passion, which he pursued for several years at numerous SUP races. Today, he prefers to paddle on river tours with family or friends - even for several days.
