A feeling of nature underfoot: the Indiana Allround 11'6" clearly embodies the roots of stand-up paddling in its shape. The sport has developed from board shapes like this, and even today a shape like this is still convincing both as an all-rounder and as a touring model.

The round nose, which glides gently through the water, may not appeal to canoeing enthusiasts, but it will certainly inspire many water sports enthusiasts, especially those with board sports experience. When accelerating to a faster touring speed, the water splashes audibly against the flat, thin nose, while the board feels like it is gliding half through and half over the water - much more so than familiar canoe shapes with a pointed nose.

The board offers low resistance and requires little pressure when paddling; even at top speed it is easier to accelerate than comparable inflatable touring models. The generous width and low thickness of the board ensure that it hardly tilts sideways. The low board thickness also reduces susceptibility to crosswinds. Stability is exceptionally good, and even with a paddler weight of 80 kilos and an additional load of 10 kilos, the board sits high enough on the water.

If you want to carry significantly more weight or luggage, you should consider a similar board shape in the 12'0" or 12'6" size. The board is not only extremely fast in a straight line and doesn't need to hide behind touring models in this respect, but is also very stable in the water when manoeuvring, even if you move significantly towards the stern on the deck.

The outline, the strong deflection in the underwater hull, the slim edges, the option of three fins in the tail and the thin hardboard construction certainly make it possible to surf waist-high, not too powerful waves with the board - to our great regret, we were unable to test this.

Conclusion on the Indiana Allround 11'6" x 32":

The Indiana Allround conveys a wonderful surfboard feeling, even on an inland lake. The classic real wood veneer is reminiscent of longboard surfboards, while you can also make good progress on an extended trip around the lake.

Stephan has covered many thousands of test kilometers, mainly on Lake Garda and in Langebaan, but also in Egypt and Tobago. He gets his hands on over 100 new sails and boards every year as his company car. Privately, he prefers to surf with a foil on Lake Walchensee or “unfortunately far too rarely” in the waves. SUP is Stephan's second passion, which he pursued for several years at numerous SUP races. Today, he prefers to paddle on river tours with family or friends - even for several days.
