At the heart of the Quatro Kai Lenny Vault Mid Length’s shape is a retro-inspired fish shape, designed to combine stability, a quick take-off and lively handling. According to Keith, the board is aimed at paddlers looking for a comparatively stable board, but who don’t want to compromise on sporty surfing. Thanks to its length, it paddles quickly and is easy to get back under your feet after take-off. It is therefore suitable for both relaxed coastal trips and small to medium-sized waves, where controlled turns and playful riding are required.
According to the shaper, a key feature is the V-shaped hull with a slight double concave, which is designed to make the board smooth-running yet manoeuvrable. The wide nose transitions into a straighter line towards the tail and ends in a distinctive, retro-style swallowtail. According to Teboul, this outline supports the combination of stability, speed and a relaxed ride in the waves.
The fin configuration offers two different options. As a twin-fin setup with larger side fins, the Quatro Kai Lenny Vault Mid Length rides more loosely, is easier to lean into turns and can be brought into a controlled slide during turns. If a trailer fin is also fitted, the board gains more guidance and pressure on the edge. This makes the ride more responsive and provides better directional stability.
Quatro also prioritises functionality when it comes to the design details. The 3-millimetre deck pad, adopted from the foil sector, features a lengthwise texture designed to provide grip without compromising comfort. At the rear, the pad has a rougher texture and features a kick that offers additional control during powerful turns. The integrated three-finger grip has been deliberately kept flat. This keeps it lightweight whilst still ensuring the board can be carried comfortably and with good balance – even with the fins fitted.
The Quatro Kai Lenny Vault Mid Length is available in four sizes: 125, 140, 160 and 180 litres. For more information, visit quatro1994.com
