Narrow inflatables with a pointed bow and flat water position such as the LiteVenture offer amazing speed potential. However, a 28-inch narrow iSUP is not a beginner board either.

Taut sports tourer: The LiteVenture Ultra Fast is a noble racer or sports tourer, depending on the occasion. Solidly reinforced, it likes speed and the bow cuts sharply through the water.

The solid-looking hull is reinforced on the top and underside with wide carbon straps, the large, colour-coordinated guy nets thread through stainless steel rings, and a shoulder strap can also be attached to the side. The stand area is visually well set off, but the pad actually covers the deck right up to the stern.

On the water, the board is not as stable as a pontoon - LiteVenture offers other models for more tipping stability - but like a sophisticated race tourer. The tip cuts through the water, not giving away a millimetre of waterline length, the optically offset nose divides the lake fluidly and almost like a hardboard. You'll soon be tempted to adapt your paddle strokes to the sporty look, and the board rewards your efforts with plenty of speed. The LiteVenture can realise its sporting ambition well and measurably. If you can paddle safely on the narrow board, you will be rewarded with reduced paddle pressure, high directional stability and very fast speed.

Want to turn quickly? This requires a little more skill and, in the case of a crossbow turn, an extra pull with the paddle to direct the nose anchored in the water in the new direction. The path to the stern is not only quite long at 14 feet, but also requires practice and ideally warmer water to begin with.

The solidly reinforced and processed, stiff board comes in a very good rucksack bag, a high-quality double-piston pump and practical fin for snapping in are also included.

Conclusion on the LiteVenture Ultra Fast 14'0" x 28":

Very elegantly made sports touring board.

Solid and stiff, fast, sporty riding feel.

Stephan Gölnitz comes from Bochum and had Holland as his home windsurfing territory for many years before moving to Munich in 1996 for the job of test editor at surf magazine. The materials engineering graduate worked as a surf instructor on the Ijsselmeer during his studies and competed for several seasons for the Essen sailing team in the Surfbundesliga and the Funboard Cup. He completed a traineeship at surf-Magazin in the test department and since then has actively accompanied almost all tests on the boom and for more than 10 years also as a photographer. Stephan has covered many thousands of test kilometers, mainly on Lake Garda and in Langebaan, but also in Egypt and Tobago. He gets his hands on over 100 new sails and boards every year as his company car. Privately, he prefers to surf with a foil on Lake Walchensee or “unfortunately far too rarely” in the waves. SUP is Stephan's second passion, which he pursued for several years at numerous SUP races. Today, he prefers to paddle on river tours with family or friends - even for several days.
