In addition to the Tourer Performance, the STX brand has another special board in its programme: the 11.6 Tourer in a five-inch thickness. The board is aimed specifically at lighter people, but despite this reduced board thickness, it is still stiff enough for paddlers weighing a good 80kg and sits well in the water. However, the reduced board thickness is particularly beneficial for smaller paddlers, as it allows them to stand lower and closer to the water, and provides a particularly nice surfing feeling without the usual tree trunk effect of thick, inflatable boards. With its narrow tail and slim nose, the board has a very sporty and agile feel when paddling rather than being trimmed for maximum stability. This also suits the concept for slightly lighter people very well.
The pointed nose glides only slightly raised over the water surface, which does not give away much waterline length and still runs well over smaller waves. The board is also easy to drive due to its low weight, it turns well in crossbow turns and requires some practice when turning with a step to the tail, but doesn't seem overly wobbly.
Like its sister model, the pad is large and grippy and ends in a wedge-shaped pad at the rear. The rear of the Pure Tourer is also optimised with a solid, sharp tear-off edge for better performance. Two small luggage nets and eyelets for a carrying strap round off the excellent features. The spacious but lightweight backpack without wheels matches the weight-optimised concept. The sliding fin can be fitted in a flash without tools. A neat, three-piece paddle is included in the price.
A very well-designed board, one might almost say a lady board, but definitely for all lighter people. Easy to manoeuvre, but still fast and true to track on the straight. The lowered stance height ensures better stability and also makes it easier for smaller people to paddle well.
Light, fast, well equipped, including paddle.
