Dreamy water vein - the Altmühl in Germany. Alongside the Twelve Apostles, picturesque rock formations rise up again and again along the Altmühl.

The Altmühl south of Nuremberg can be discovered in several stages over 150 kilometres. Our tip for the day starts in Sollnhofen and ends after 13 kilometres in Dollnstein. Immediately after the start, you paddle towards the most beautiful rock formation in the Altmühl Valley, the Twelve Apostles. The romantic beer gardens along the route invite you to take a break or simply relax in the beautiful natural surroundings. As the river never gets really deep in some places and is chocolate brown, you should fit a smaller centre fin. The Altmühl has hardly any flow speed, so you have to paddle the route under your own steam. Get on the train in Dollnstein (the station is about a 10-minute walk from the exit). A visit to the beautiful old town of Eichstätt is a must.
