The 10 most beautiful rivers for stand-up paddlers: Upper Isar
Little Canada - the upper Isar in Germany: the turquoise river flows smoothly through the Karwendel Gorge and is a highlight for SUP climbers.

From Karwendel to Munich Tierpark, the upper Isar is actually a great white-water hiking river throughout. Especially between Wallgau and the Sylvenstein reservoir, you feel like you're in Canada. Unfortunately, you have to pay attention to the minimum water levels here. From Sylvensteinspeicher to Munich (especially Ascholdinger and Pupplinger Au) the passages are easy and scenic.

Our tour suggestion is sportier, but not difficult. WW beginners should have a guide. From Gasthof Wiesenhof, it's a 30-minute walk to the entrance at the Gleierschbrücke bridge. Caution: The gorge can be dangerous at high water. The exit is the first boathouse at the Karwendel car park. If you want to continue, you have to go through Scharnitz (some block weirs). From Scharnitz to just before Mittenwald (large block weir at the exit to Leutasch), the Isar then winds picturesquely between the Karwendel and Wetterstein.

Approach: From Munich to Garmisch to Scharnitz, to the car park at the Wiesenhof. Camping:Naturcamping Isarhorn ( www.camping-isarhorn.de )Info and guiding: www.supcore.de
