The Indiana Touring is available in two thicknesses with an otherwise completely identical shape. In 4.75 and 5.8 inches.

The thinner one is the "lady version", but is also suitable for lighter men, especially as it is not bright pink (see page 80, above). Both glide through the water with similar speed and ease, the combination of width and nose curve seemed very successful to the testers between 55 and 80 kilos. The board feels fast and turns well, is stable in the water but not too sluggish. The 31 inch width turns out to be a good all-round size in this class for sporty paddlers who still want reserves for wavy conditions. Two generous nets solve all transport problems. We would recommend a thinner board up to 80kg and a thicker board above that. Unless you are planning longer tours, then always go for the heavier version.

CONCLUSIONA very well-balanced board that is just as suitable for extended SUP tours as it is for brisk laps in sports gear and without luggage.

Our lightweight testers (here at Lake Starnberg, around 70 kilos and well under 60 kilos) found the thinner board to be no less stiff, even praising the slightly lower standing position and the resulting better "surf" feeling. Of course, both are also surfers. At a test weight of 80 kilos, the greater stiffness of the thicker board is noticeable, but the thinner board is still fully in the green zone, so the decision is a draw. Stephan Gölnitz comes from Bochum and had Holland as his home windsurfing territory for many years before moving to Munich in 1996 for the job of test editor at surf magazine. The materials engineering graduate worked as a surf instructor on the Ijsselmeer during his studies and competed for several seasons for the Essen sailing team in the Surfbundesliga and the Funboard Cup. He completed a traineeship at surf-Magazin in the test department and since then has actively accompanied almost all tests on the boom and for more than 10 years also as a photographer. Stephan has covered many thousands of test kilometers, mainly on Lake Garda and in Langebaan, but also in Egypt and Tobago. He gets his hands on over 100 new sails and boards every year as his company car. Privately, he prefers to surf with a foil on Lake Walchensee or “unfortunately far too rarely” in the waves. SUP is Stephan's second passion, which he pursued for several years at numerous SUP races. Today, he prefers to paddle on river tours with family or friends - even for several days.
