The race jibe is the sporty alternative to the normal jibe on the wingfoil. Watch this clip to find out what it's all about.

The jibe is usually the first manoeuvre that wingsurfers try ( HERE there's a detailed video tutorial). If you have already mastered this basic manoeuvre, you can take the next step with the Race Jibe.

This variant differs from the "normal" jibe mainly due to the wing technique. While in the standard jibe the wing partially hovers in the neutral position above the head, in the race jibe it remains in the power zone for longer, which ensures constant propulsion. After a short backstroke (surfer downwind, wing upwind), the change of grip only takes place at the end of the manoeuvre.

The jibe variation is therefore also a good preliminary exercise for other moves, e.g. the downwind 360.

In this short clip from the Duotone Wing Academy, you can find out what the most important sticking points of this manoeuvre are.
