If the base plate can no longer be removed from the board after the session, you can remove it with a simple trick - our life hack will show you how.

Is it because you usually have less power after the session than before surfing? Could be! Every windsurfer knows the problem of not being able to turn the base plate. However, the fact that (stronger) helpers or appropriate tools are not always on hand is no longer a problem, because with a little trick you can easily loosen a jammed mast base plate yourself.

And this is how it works:

  • Simply take your extension and place the top as far out as possible on the mast base plate. Every base plate will have a recess or other attachment point somewhere, as no plate is designed to be completely contourless
  • The flatter the angle at which you set the extension, the better the base plate will come loose in the following
  • A few firm taps on the underside of the extension will loosen the plate - once you have made a start, you can do the rest by hand

You can see the exact procedure in the picture gallery at the beginning of the article - so if you get stuck again, give it a try!
