The top riders are gradually arriving on Maui ahead of the Aloha Classic (starting on 21 October). The trade winds are blowing from all angles and the swell on the North Shore leaves nothing to be desired. The 14th of October became a big day, and everyone who could was out on the water.
Kai Lenny got the windsurfing gear out of the well-stocked garage and IWT judge Boujmaa Guillol also tested the conditions. Brawzinho was riding the jetlag out of his bones after returning from the World Cup Sylt and Jason Polakow also made an appearance again - with stylish bottom turns as ever. Bernd Roediger took the exit over the rocks after some good rides and had to carry his equipment back piece by piece.
But the move of the day was definitely Camille Juban's: a gigantic aerial over the foam rollers of Hookipa! Sophie Louca and Paul Karaolides, known as the Fish Bowl Diaries, captured the moment in great pictures, as well as many other moves from the day. "Today was everything the hype surrounding the predictions had promised," the pair wrote about their pictures. "Non-stop big sets and insane action!"
Hookipa is still going strong until the middle of the week - unfortunately, the forecast will then drop a little just in time for the start of the Aloha Classic. But until then, there are still a few days in which a lot can happen!
