At the start of boot 2024 in Düsseldorf, the VDWS (Association of German Water Sports Schools) celebrated its 50th birthday with an exclusive (and fully booked after 2 days) "VDWS since 1974 party" with old and new committed members and partners. Even two of the founding members, Ernstfried Prade and Peter Brockhaus, made it to the party. On the large action pool, you could try out one of the first windsurfers with an original rig, and there were also numerous other challenges. The pool was surrounded by big names from the scene and formative companions of the VDWS.

Founded by twelve water sports enthusiasts in the 1970s, the VDWS has developed into an international association with almost six thousand members over the last half century. From one sport - originally windsurfing - six disciplines have emerged that the VDWS represents in the water sports segment, and more passionate members are constantly joining. "It's something very special - a completely different world that awaits each and every one of us on the water," says Managing Director Dirk Muschenisch. "Each of us has our own individual motivation for practising sports on the water. And so the passion for water sports brings together people from all walks of life, cultures, ages and with different motivations. We are proud to represent this community, to network and to pass on our knowledge to new enthusiasts - for the sport and the water sports community!"
Over the course of the anniversary year, the association is planning various promotions for members, such as special conditions from renowned manufacturers, special VDWS magazine issues and newsletter updates or limited-edition VDWS wear to mark the anniversary.
