Almost 100 female windsurfers attended the "Ladies Day" on the beach in Makkum in the Netherlands.
Almost 100 windsurfing enthusiasts came together last weekend for the"Ladies Day" to Makkum.

The spot on the Ijsselmeer in the Netherlands has a reputation as the perfect place for beginners and intermediates. The wind also played along perfectly on the day of the event and provided plenty of action.

The latest windsurfing and wing equipment could be tested on the water, and there were also workshops on sail trimming, sailing technique and much more. Many participants were on the board for the first time and were accompanied on their first attempts by none other than Sarah-Quita Offringa. Worldcupper and qualified yoga instructor Arrianne Aukes gave a yoga lesson on the beach, and racer Femke van der Veen was also there.

As co-owner of Surfcenter.nl, Nico Prien also made the journey to Makkum: "When was the last time you saw 100 women windsurfing at once? I certainly never have!" The aim was to set an example to all female windsurfers worldwide: "You are not alone, stay with us and come to our next Ladies Day."

Many of the participants were delighted to make new friends, as they usually feel alone at their spots. (Nico Prien)

Tobi is our digital man, he looks after the surf website and social media channels and gets on everyone's nerves every morning by asking for more pictures and videos. His surfing CV includes all the famous choppy water spots: As a teenager, he went from his home in Münsterland to the Ijsselmeer or the Brouwersdam, and during his civilian service on Sylt, after countless washes on the west side, the Königshafen became his preferred spot. After studying in Kiel and Heidkate, he was supposed to go to Hamburg “only for a short time”, but this short time has lasted for over ten years and has made him a “weekend warrior”. He goes on tour with his family and camper van as often as possible, often to the Baltic Sea, SPO or Denmark, but also likes to go to Finland, Sweden or Sardinia.
