After two days of rest, the Maui Strong Aloha Classic off Hookipa was to continue tonight in European time. The expected swell was there, but the wind did not materialise throughout the day. As a result, there were no further heats and no new developments in the race for the 2023 World Championship title in men's wave riding.
The livestream from Maui was nevertheless on, and after a review of the contest so far - and a request to pray for wind - presenter Kai Katchadourian asked a number of riders to come in front of his microphone for in-depth interviews. Among them were:

Friday is the last day of the event on which the decisions will be made. It can start at 11am local time (midnight our time), the swell should remain and the wind forecast looks much more promising. Hopefully there will also be a livestream, as there was talk of a "different setup".
