A job as a surf instructor ...
If you've ever stood on a board and been infected by the windsurfing virus, a job as a surf instructor might be the right thing for you. Be it as a profession or as a summer job during school or university. You can train as a windsurfing instructor with various organisations. The largest and probably best known is the Association of German Watersport Schools (VDWS) .
... or an internship first?
If you don't want to spend a lot of money on training straight away, but simply want to get a taste of everyday life at the centre, get to know life as a surf instructor or simply spend a summer at a watersports centre, then a watersports assistant (also known as a trainee) may be a better option for the time being. After that, you can always acquire your windsurfing instructor licence.
The VDWS Watersports Assistant
Over a period of two to eight weeks, you will work at a VDWS watersports centre and get a taste of the various areas, from equipment hire to repairs and teaching. No great windsurfing skills are required - you can also obtain your basic windsurfing licence during this time. The only requirement is that you are at least 16 years old. There are no costs involved - after all, you are working! If you decide to train to become a fully-fledged windsurfing instructor within two years of completing your training as a water sports assistant, you will also receive a 10% discount on the training course from the VDWS.
Even more info you will find here on the VDWS website.
