The Ocean Film Tour enters its tenth round in 2024. Every spring, the film festival attracts all "ocean lovers" to the cinemas. A mixture of documentaries from all areas of the water world provides plenty of variety and offers even die-hard surfing fans an interesting look beyond the horizon.

Unfortunately, no windsurfing film was included in the programme in previous years. This changes in Volume 10 of the Ocean Film Tour. This time, windsurfing with its most successful athlete, Björn Dunkerbeck, is included in the programme. The lavish documentary by Gerald Salmina about the life of the 42-time world champion has already enjoyed many sold-out cinemas at premieres throughout Europe this autumn.

The other films on the Ocean Film Tour are:

  • "The Return to Antarctica"
Captain Peter Hammarstedt and his team from Sea Shepherd Global set off for the Antarctic to draw attention to the massive overfishing of krill.
  • "Havana Libre"
Anyone surfing in Cuba must always keep an eye on the beach as well as the waves. Because surfing is illegal in Cuba. The film follows the two surfers Frank and Yaya over several years and provides deep insights into the illegal subculture of surfers in Cuba.
  • "Ice Mermaid"
Ice swimmer Melissa Kegler wants to swim more than two kilometres in icy water and set a new American record. She doesn't have a stereotypical athletic body, which is precisely why the record is all the more achievable for her than for many other athletes - despite all the problems that her body shape brings with it.
  • "Older than Trees"
Sharks and rays have been around for more than 400 million years. Some species were already swimming through the oceans before there were any trees on earth. But these ancient species are in danger. But how can we reverse this development? That is the question that has been driving James Lea for years.

The premiere is on 5 March 2024 in the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, after which the tour will continue through Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Slovenia and Spain until mid-May. You can find all dates at oceanfilmtour.comwhere you can also order tickets!
