After a three-year hiatus, the Freestyle Pro Tour is returning to one of Europe’s most iconic freestyle spots. From 7 to 11 October 2026, a 5-star Proving Grounds event will take place at Brouwersdam as part of the DAM-X Festival. For many tour athletes, this Dutch spot is their home spot and a year-round training ground. The event combines classic freestyle with a tow-in competition and offers total prize money of 5,000 euros. Registration opens on 14 August and runs until 23 August. For the tow-in competitors, the event represents an important stopover ahead of the season finale in Geneva, which takes place immediately afterwards. Every point counts in the battle for the 2026 championship.
Two-part competition format
The event is structured around two separate competitions spread over five days. The first three days are set aside for the freestyle format, though only if wind conditions are suitable. The decision on whether to go ahead will be made a few days before the event begins, based on the weather forecast. Should the freestyle competition go ahead, the classic single and double elimination formats will be used. In addition, the Open Fleet format – which made its debut at this season’s FPT Podersdorf – will return. The final two days will be dedicated to the tow-in competition, which will take place during the closing weekend of the DAM-X Festival. Both disciplines will be contested in men’s and women’s categories.
Historical significance of the advert
At the last event in Brouwersdam in 2023, Yentel Caers secured victory in the men’s category. Maaike Huvermann triumphed in the women’s event at her home spot, which she uses as a training ground all year round. The event marked a turning point in the history of the tour: Lennart Neubauer was crowned European Freestyle Champion for the first time. This title was the start of a remarkable run of success. In the three years since that first triumph, Neubauer has won two further FPT championships and now travels to Brouwersdam as the reigning champion. Returning to the scene of his first major success could hold symbolic significance for Lennart.
A crucial stage in the title race
The timing of the event heightens the significance of every single result. With the season finale in Geneva coming straight afterwards, the athletes have no room for error. Anyone who drops points at Brouwersdam may not be able to make up the deficit. The Dutch venue offers home riders such as Huvermann a clear advantage thanks to their local knowledge and years of experience with the local conditions. International competitors will need to adapt quickly to the conditions and perform at their best right from the start.
