The German Windsurfing Association (GWA) and Choppy Water GmbH are presenting the tour schedule for the 2025 California Windsurf Cup season at an unusually early stage. A total of six major windsurfing cups are planned. With Sylt and St. Peter-Ording, the classic spots are back on the calendar, while Pelzerhaken and Heiligenhafen complete the schedule with beginner-friendly conditions. In addition, four ProAm Cups are to be organised for beginners.
Three ProAm Windsurf Cups are planned as a warm-up. As in 2024, the first ProAm will take place at Easter on Lake Garda. The event is being planned in cooperation with Windsurfing Austria and Circolo Surf Torbole. The exact date will be announced as soon as possible. However, it depends on the other regattas on Lake Garda and can only be finalised a little later.
On 10/11 May, the ProAm Windsurf Cup will celebrate its premiere at the Dümmer. The event offers all windsurfers in western Germany an ideal opportunity to start the season.
Following the positive feedback this year, Nordwind Wassersport in Surendorf is organising two ProAm Windsurf Cups. The first will take place on 24/25 May 2025.
The first major California Windsurf Cup will take place over Whitsun from 5 to 9 June as part of the Summer Opening on Sylt. This event is the official kick-off for the summer season on Germany's most famous island. In addition to the foiling and fin slalom disciplines, wave will once again be on the agenda as a standby discipline.
Next year, the North Sea island of Borkum will return to the tour schedule of the German top series in windsurfing. It is already clear that windsurfers can look forward to an international highlight from 18 - 22 June, with 20,000 euros in prize money up for grabs. Discussions with the international associations are underway. In the next few weeks it will become clear which event and which discipline will be held on the North Sea island.
From the North Sea to the Baltic Sea. The California Windsurf Cup returns to Pelzerhaken from 4 to 6 July. Last year, the tour stop in the Baltic seaside resort was one of the events with the most participants. The easy conditions at the pier motivate newcomers to the regatta and many youngsters in particular to try their hand at the top series there. A strong field of participants can be expected again in 2025.
Two weeks later, the action continues on the endless North Sea beach of St. Peter-Ording. The foiling, fin slalom and wave disciplines are scheduled there on the North Sea from 17 to 20 July. In the 2024 season, St. Peter-Ording was the only spot where a valid wave result was achieved.
The sporting highlight from a national perspective is the GWA Championship (IDM tbc.), which always takes place as part of the California Surf Cup Sylt. From 29 July to 3 August, the windsurfing elite not only compete for valuable ranking points for the annual ranking, but also for the official titles in the foiling, fin slalom and wave disciplines and, of course, the overall championship.
The last California Windsurf Cup 2025 will take place at the end of the holiday season from 4 to 7 September in Heiligenhafen. The GWA Youth & Junior Championship (IDJM tbc.) is once again planned as part of the event.
To round off the season, the ProAm Windsurf Cup in Surendorf is once again on the agenda. On 27/28 September, all "cuppers" can meet there for the last time and bring the season to a close with exciting races on fin and foil.
"We are proud to be able to present the tour schedule for the upcoming California Windsurf Cup season so early. The dates have been finalised and thanks to the long-term collaboration with our sponsors and partners, we can also be sure that the events will take place as planned. This means we can offer participants planning security at an early stage," says Matthias Regber from Choppy Water GmbH, which is responsible for organising the California Windsurf Cup.
