The wind forecast with 20 knots of north-westerly wind diagonally onshore and a wave height of 1.5 metres promises the rare chance to be awarded the official title of the German Windsurfing Association in the wave discipline.
"The wind forecast for the Brandenburg beach has been further confirmed: 20 knots and more from the northwest are in the forecast for Wednesday 24 July. Unlike usual, this is not 'dead onshore', but obliquely onshore. The wind is expected to set in this evening and blow through the whole night. Waves of 1.5 metres in height are therefore forecast for Wednesday morning. The tide will set in during the morning, so stable conditions can be expected. We don't want to miss this opportunity to award the official wave title of the German Windsurfing Association," says Matthias Regber from Choppy Water GmbH, which organises the California Windsurf Cup.
As this alarm is given as part of the GWA Championship, it is not only possible to win up to 140 ranking points in this contest, but also the official wave title of the German Windsurfing Association.
So if you want to take part, you should make your way to Brandenburger Strand on Sylt. Registration for the waver is scheduled for 09:00 to 09:30. The skippers meeting is scheduled for 10:00 am. The earliest possible start is at 10.30 am. It is planned to carry out the complete waveriding including the award ceremony for this discipline tomorrow, Wednesday.
The French wetsuit brand Soöruz will once again pay the entry fee for all participants in the waveriding. Thanks to the co-operation with the DB AutoZug Syltshuttle, participants can also travel to the island at a reduced event rate.
